Who can join?
Any child 6 years or older who can swim 25 yards of any stroke. Swimming not only develops the body, it also develops self-esteem, self-discipline, goal setting, and good work habits.
What about fun?
This is a competitive swim team, not a fitness program or casual recreation activity. Yes, there is plenty of work involved, but there is also a lot of fun! You make new friends and share many new experiences with them. Comraderie of swimmers is encouraged throughfun travel trips and other activities.
How flexible is the practice schedule?
Young swimmers are offered more practices than they are expected to attend. As swimmers get older and more experienced, the expectations and commitment level gradually increase.
What is USA Swimming?
USA Swimming is the national governing body for competitive swimming in the U.S. All Sea Tigers swimmers are required to be members of USA Swimming, even if they do not compete, as USA Swimming provides insurance coverage.
What is Virginia Swimming, Inc.?
VSI is one of the 59 Local Swim Committees (LSC's) within USA Swimming, and is responsible for all USA Swimming competitions in Virginia.
How much are the CAST Swimming fees?
There will be an annual registration fee of $58.00. This fee will cover your registration fee with United States Swimming Organization. Monthly fees of $25.00 for the first child, $20.00 for the second child and $15.00 for the third child will apply to all enrolled swimmers. Fee covers coach’s time, workouts, newsletters and administrative charges. Additional fees for competitions will apply if you compete.
